Emily Lord, LGSW
Emily Lord is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) who brings over 20 years of experience to her work as a therapist. She offers a warm, approachable presence, blending curiosity, compassion, and a thoughtful sense of humor to help clients feel at ease from the very first session. In addition to her clinical work, Emily is also a leadership coach, supporting individuals in building resilience, clarity, and meaningful growth.
She also works with adults navigating life transitions, family stress, anxiety, depression, and many other areas. Emily understands how overwhelming these challenges can feel and partners with clients to build insight, confidence, and practical tools to move forward with intention.
Emily is also passionate about working with couples and truly enjoys providing couples counseling. She helps partners strengthen communication, navigate conflict, and reconnect in ways that feel authentic and supportive. Whether couples are facing challenges, life transitions, or simply looking to deepen their relationship, Emily creates a space where both individuals feel heard, respected, and understood.
Her approach is person-centered and collaborative, grounded in deep empathy and respect for each client’s unique experience. She integrates multiple evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Somatics, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support emotional regulation, coping skills, and values-driven living.
Clients often describe Emily’s style as calm, supportive, and engaging. She creates a space where people can slow down, feel seen, and begin making meaningful shifts in their lives and relationships.
Outside of her clinical work, Emily enjoys spending time with her family, exploring local hiking trails, and attending community festivals, connections to joy and community that she thoughtfully weaves into her therapeutic perspective.
Emily is a provisionally licensed therapist who practices at Restorative Wellness Counseling under clinical supervision as she works toward full licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She is supervised by Talia Singer, LICSW. Emily is currently accepting new in-person and telehealth clients and is in-network with BCBS, HealthPartners, Aetna, and Medical Assistance.
Emily practices as an independent contractor with Restorative Wellness Counseling and operates as a separate legal entity. While providing services through our clinic, Emily maintains full professional responsibility for her clinical work and the care of her clients.
