Jaelyn Richter, LICSW
I’m Jaelyn (she/her), a mental health therapist and fellow human being trying to figure the world out. Welcome to my space!
I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have my Master’s degree in clinical social work from the University of St. Thomas (2022). I am a cisgender, bisexual, White, non-Hispanic woman and value social justice and personal development as a core tenet of my professional responsibility as a therapist. I am always learning, and hope that this reflects in the work I do with clients.
I have experience working with a variety of populations and presenting concerns, and enjoy working with children (ages 0-12) and their parents or caregivers, as well as women (ages 18-50). I am specifically trained to work with early childhood clients (ages 0-5) and their parents/caregivers, as well as individuals across the lifespan who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety or other anxious distress. I am specifically interested in working with children and adults who exist on the spectrum of neurodiversity, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, OCD, twice exceptionality (2E), pathological demand avoidance (PDA), and other forms of neurodiversity that impact overall functioning.
In working with young clients, I aim to foster a therapeutic alliance with both the child and their parent(s) or caregiver(s) that is curious, collaborative, and unconditionally accepting of the child. Play is the language of children, and every child deserves a space where they can speak freely and without judgment. In my space, I utilize an approach that is rich with opportunities for exploration of emotions through play, imagination, and creativity so that children may explore their internal world and process safely in a neutral and accepting environment. Oftentimes, I will invite the parent to participate in therapeutic play alongside the child, creating opportunities for shared enjoyment, regulation, and understanding between the parent and their child.
My lens with adults is similar to my lens with children, because we were all children once, a belief that lives at the core of my clinical framework. I use an attachment- and trauma-informed lens to support adult clients through gentle exploration of their inner child, with the goal of identifying and nurturing unmet needs, healing relational wounds, expanding insight, and inviting self-compassion. I value authenticity and humility in the way I show up with clients, and hope that my knowledge and expertise can serve as a guide for my clients to find their own meaning as the experts of their own lives.
At the end of the day, we are all just humans trying to figure out life. If I can help that feel a little bit easier for someone--or less lonely, or more organized, or whatever is needed--then I have done my job successfully. Thanks for taking the time to learn about me. I hope you got what you needed, and that you find some small joy today.
Jaelyn is currently accepting new in person and tele-health clients through insurance at this time.
Jaelyn is an independent contractor with RWC and operates as a separate entity. While providing services through our practice, Jaelyn retains full professional responsibility for clients and clinical work.
